The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it received a report that a ship was attacked about 10 nautical miles north of the Saudi city of Jubail.

The agency said the information came from a third party, and further details about the nature of the incident were still being gathered.

Shortly before the report emerged, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had targeted an oil tanker sailing under the Marshall Islands flag in Gulf waters.

Iranian officials said the vessel, identified as the Louis P, was struck near Jubail on Saudi Arabia’s eastern coast.

Meanwhile, tensions also rose inside Israel. Residents in Tel Aviv reported hearing a powerful explosion, prompting authorities to issue a red alert across the city.

Arab media reported that air-raid sirens triggered panic among residents, with many rushing toward shelters and other safe locations.

In a separate statement, the IRGC said it had shot down a total of 82 drones since the latest round of tensions began.

According to the group, 13 advanced drones were destroyed in the past 24 hours alone. Iranian military officials said the downed drones included models such as MQ-9, Hermes and Orbiter.

They added that the drones were intercepted using a joint air-defence system.
