Pakistan achieves target at Bagram airbase as anti-terror operation expands

Pakistan has successfully hit its target at Afghanistan’s Bagram Airbase, destroying ammunition support infrastructure used by militants, according to security sources.

Officials said the strike was part of the ongoing Operation Ghazab‑lil‑Haq, launched in response to militant activity linked to the banned Tehreek‑e‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and unprovoked aggression from Afghanistan.

Security sources on Thursday said the operation targeted logistical facilities used to support militants and served as a “clear response” to Afghanistan.

Pakistan has also demanded that the Afghan authorities hand over the leadership of the TTP, warning that cross-border target operations would continue until operational objectives are achieved.

Operations intensify along border

According to officials, Pakistani forces have so far carried out 58 operations inside Afghanistan, destroying 226 militant posts and raising the Pakistani flag at 36 captured checkpoints.

Security sources said the operations have already reduced cross-border firing from the Afghan side.

They added that Pakistan’s actions were based on credible intelligence and were directed exclusively at terrorist hideouts, facilitation centres and launch pads near the border.

Afghan Taliban backing militants

During a briefing held with journalists from districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security officials said Pakistan has no issue with the Afghan people but accused the Afghan Taliban regime of acting as a “proxy master” facilitating militant groups in the region.

Officials said the regime must choose between maintaining relations with Pakistan and supporting terrorist organisations operating against it.

They added that the ongoing campaign is part of Pakistan’s broader war against terrorism and would continue until there are credible guarantees that militant groups will no longer receive support.

Daily IBOs inside Pakistan

Security sources said that alongside cross-border strikes, more than 200 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) are being conducted daily inside Pakistan against militant networks.

They also warned that misinformation was being spread through Afghan official social media accounts and some foreign media outlets to distort the situation.

Pakistan maintains that all operations are conducted with precision and are aimed solely at militant infrastructure, rejecting claims that civilian populations are being targeted.

Officials added that the Ministry of Information and security institutions are regularly sharing verified updates and video evidence of operations to ensure transparency.

Security sources emphasised that Pakistan remains committed to constructive relations with regional states but is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
