The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) issued a formal notification confirming the hike under the monthly fuel price adjustment for January.

According to the notification, the additional charges will be recovered in the March bills. The increase will apply to domestic, commercial and industrial consumers.

The decision also covers consumers of K-Electric.

However, lifeline consumers and electric vehicle charging stations have been exempted.

Nepra had reserved its verdict after completing a hearing on the January fuel price adjustment. The decision was issued a day earlier.

The latest hike comes a day after the regulator notified another increase of Rs0.35 per unit under quarterly adjustment, further raising the overall burden on electricity consumers nationwide.
