In a statement posted on X, Tarar said the operation was launched in response to unprovoked aggression and terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.

He claimed that 226 Afghan Taliban checkposts had been destroyed and that Pakistani forces had taken control of 35 posts.

Additionally, 198 tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery guns belonging to the Afghan Taliban regime were destroyed during the operation.

According to the minister, Pakistani air operations targeted 56 locations across Afghanistan.

The operation was launched following cross-border firing along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border on the night of February 26.

Pakistani forces carried out retaliatory strikes at multiple locations inside Afghanistan, including Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia, targeting what officials described as militant installations and checkposts.

Islamabad has also reiterated its demand that Kabul choose between supporting the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) or maintaining state-to-state relations with Pakistan.
