Pakistan’s security forces foiled the Afghan Taliban’s attempt to infiltrate the border and launch attacks in Balochistan, sources said on Tuesday.

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that Taliban fighters attempted assaults at 16 different locations in northern Balochistan, but security forces responded in time and pushed them back.

In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, Tarar said security forces foiled attacks in Qila Saifullah, Nushki and Chaman.

He said that during clashes in Balochistan, 27 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed and several others wounded.

One soldier of the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan embraced martyrdom, while five personnel were injured.

Tarar further stated that an attempt to launch a ground assault in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was also repulsed, where 40 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed.

Security sources said the action against Taliban fighters is being taken under Operation Ghazb lil Haq, which will continue until its objectives are achieved.

The sources added that Pakistan’s ground and air operations are ongoing and effective.

The security sources said a successful air strike in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province destroyed the Khogani base.

An ammunition depot and a drone storage facility in Jalalabad were also targeted.

The sources said that the Afghan Taliban and Fitna Al Khawarij militants suffered heavy losses in the operations.

Meanwhile, combing operations are underway as part of a crackdown on illegally residing Afghan nationals in Islamabad, Murree, Chakwal, Jhelum and Attock.

Police and local authorities said a total of 85 individuals were taken into custody, including Afghan nationals residing illegally.

In Islamabad’s Humak police station area, nine people were detained.

In Murree and Kotli Sattian, three people were arrested, including two illegal Afghan nationals.

In Jhelum, 57 illegal Afghan nationals were detained during house searches, while in Chakwal, 13 Afghan nationals and two proclaimed offenders were arrested.

One illegal Afghan national was also arrested in Attock.

Authorities said illegal weapons and narcotics were recovered during the operations.
