Pakistan launches air strikes; major ammo depot destroyed in Nangarhar

Pakistan has launched air strikes inside Afghanistan, destroying a major ammunition depot in Nangarhar, security sources said on Friday.

The sources said the Pakistan Air Force targeted and destroyed a large ammunition depot, while operations against militant hideouts continue in border areas.

They added that multiple Afghan Taliban fighters were killed and several defensive positions were eliminated.

According to security officials, further air strikes are underway in Nangarhar. The action was in response to unprovoked aggression by the Afghan Taliban.

On the ground, the Pakistan Army is conducting effective operations along the border.

Near the Nawapas sector, militant positions were hit, resulting in casualties and the complete destruction of bunkers, the sources said.

Security officials also said that Pakistani forces have taken control of several Afghan Taliban posts along the Pakistan-Afghan border, with the national flag raised at some locations.

Separately, the sources said that Pakistani fighter jets are patrolling the airspace over Kandahar, underscoring readiness against any escalation. They added that Pakistan’s armed forces are fully prepared to counter aggression.

In Kabul, key military installations, including two brigade headquarters, have been destroyed, according to the officials. They said Pakistan is delivering an effective and decisive response using both air and ground capabilities.

Security sources said the operations are part of Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, launched late Thursday night in response to unprovoked actions by the Afghan Taliban regime along the border.

According to the officials, 58 Afghan militants were killed, and more than 100 were wounded during the retaliatory action.

They said 12 Afghan posts were destroyed, while five were captured. A large ammunition depot, three Afghan battalions, and a sector headquarters were also destroyed.

The sources added that more than 30 tanks, artillery guns, and armoured personnel carriers were targeted.

They said further retaliatory strikes are continuing with intensity and that Pakistan’s armed forces retain the capability to respond decisively to any form of aggression.
