According to local police, Dr Mahwish, 36, was returning home after finishing her duty when she was targeted by armed motorcyclists 200 yards from the hospital.

Following the incident, the Young Doctors Association (YDA) declared a strike and closed hospitals in protest.

The police have initiated an investigation into the murder by collecting evidence from the crime scene.

CCTV footage and witness statements are being used to track down the suspects.

A case has been registered at the KDA Police Station against unknown individuals.

The police have yet to make any arrests.

Talking to the media, YDA President said that protests and a complete strike will continue until the perpetrators are apprehended.

He urged the government and law enforcement agencies to ensure the immediate arrest and punishment of the killers.

Dr Rashid Bukhari, president of the Paramedics Association, also demanded the immediate arrest of the assailants and announced that the strike will continue until justice is served.

As a result of the strike, medical services at District Headquarters Hospital, including emergency and outpatient departments (OPD), have been suspended.

Protests have spread to other districts, including Karak, Hangu, and surrounding areas, as doctors and paramedics unite in their demand for the arrest of killers.

The local administration officials have been holding talks with medical associations to resolve the issue.

Dr Mahwish will be laid to rest today at her ancestral graveyard following a funeral prayer at 3pm.
