HEC has issued an advisory to both private and public universities, stating that AI should be included as a compulsory subject in all degree programs.

The directive calls for a three-credit-hour course on artificial intelligence to be taught nationwide.

The advisory specifies that AI courses should be compulsory at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, though institutions may also offer them as optional subjects.

The curriculum is expected to cover basic concepts, applications, and ethical aspects of AI.

HEC said the move aims to prepare students for the demands of the digital economy, with particular emphasis on transparency, accountability, and confidentiality in AI use.
