According to a spokesperson for the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), there is a strong possibility of moon visibility today.

SUPARCO said the first day of the holy month of Ramazan is expected to fall on Thursday.

The new moon was born on Tuesday at 5:01pm Pakistan Standard Time, it added.

At sunset on Wednesday, the moon will be approximately 25 hours and 48 minutes old, making it likely to be visible to the naked eye.

The final announcement regarding the sighting of Ramazan’s crescent will be made by Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad.

Meanwhile, Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad has said that the entire country will start the holy month on the same day this year.

Speaking to a private TV channel, Maulana Azad said that the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is holding its meeting in Peshawar today, and for the past few years, announcements have been made to observe Ramazan on the same day nationwide.

He added that the committee includes representatives from the Ministry of Science, the Meteorological Department, and the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO).

Maulana Azad further stated that the Ministry of Science and the Meteorological Department provide scientific data to the committee regarding the sighting of the moon.
