Roads reopened across KP after Peshawar High Court order

Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have restored traffic on major highways following orders from the Peshawar High Court, officials said.

According to the Central Police Office, obstacles were removed from the Attock Bridge on GT Road, while roads linking Dera Ismail Khan with Mianwali and Chashma were also reopened.

The M-14 Motorway at the CPEC Yarik Toll Plaza was cleared. Interchanges at Havelian and Muslimabad on the Hazara Motorway were also reopened.

However, the M-1 Motorway interchange at Ambar in Swabi remained closed, where negotiations with PTI workers were ongoing.

The court had earlier expressed strong displeasure over prolonged road blockades and directed authorities to ensure the immediate restoration of traffic to ease public hardship.

Meanwhile, KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi criticised what he described as the unjust treatment of protesters and questioned judicial handling of ongoing cases.

He said courts should inquire why people were protesting and why their leader was being denied legal rights.

He also questioned delays in hearings and restrictions on meetings with personal doctors.
