Petrol and diesel prices set to rise ahead of Ramadan

The prices of petroleum products are expected to rise in Pakistan over the next fortnight, sources said on Saturday.

According to initial estimates, petrol may rise by Rs4.39 per litre, diesel by Rs5.40 per litre, kerosene oil by Rs4, and light diesel oil by Rs6.55 per litre.

Officials said the Petroleum Division will announce the new prices once the prime minister gives the green light.

The increase, expected to take effect from February 16, could add to the financial burden on consumers ahead of Ramadan.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will submit its summary to the government, and the Ministry of Finance will make the final decision in consultation with the prime minister, taking federal revenue requirements into account.
