TTAP stages sit-in over Imran’s health at Parliament House

Lawmakers from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) continued their protest inside Parliament House late into the night, demanding the transfer of party founder Imran Khan to the hospital for medical treatment.

The sit-in, called by the opposition alliance Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Ayeen Pakistan (TTAP), entered its extended phase as protesters signalled they would not end the demonstration until Imran Khan is shifted to Al-Shifa International Hospital.

All entry points of Parliament House were sealed, and exterior lights were switched off.

A heavy contingent of police, including women officers, remained deployed around the premises.

PTI parliamentarians decided to spend the night inside Parliament as their protest continued.

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, and senior PTI leaders were present at the sit-in.

Authorities also cut electricity inside the building, but PTI members of the National Assembly and Senate continued their protest.

A government representative sought time to respond after consulting the prime minister.

Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said Imran Khan had an eye-related issue and assured that an eye examination would be conducted at a location specified by the PTI founder.
