A major fire that broke out at a warehouse in a two-storey building near Barkat Market in Lahore was brought under control after more than five hours of firefighting, rescue officials said on Friday.

The blaze erupted around 3:45 p.m. and quickly engulfed the entire structure. The warehouse, used for storing chairs and other materials, contained highly combustible items that intensified the fire.

Firefighters deployed eight vehicles and around 40 personnel to control the flames. Parts of the building collapsed due to the intensity of the fire, while furniture and stored goods were reduced to ashes. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

A spokesperson for Rescue 1122 confirmed that cooling operations continued after the fire was extinguished to prevent reignition.

Initial investigations suggest a short circuit may have caused the fire.

Officials said the final cause would be confirmed after completion of the cooling process and a detailed inquiry.

The warehouse owner told the media that goods worth millions of rupees were destroyed.
