PAF completes ‘Golden Eagle’ exercise, showcases AI-powered combat readiness

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has successfully concluded Exercise “Golden Eagle” in the Southern Air Command’s area of responsibility, demonstrating a high level of combat preparedness, operational agility and integrated warfare capability, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the exercise aimed to further enhance the PAF’s operational effectiveness through artificial intelligence-enabled, network-centric operations, while integrating modern, efficient and indigenously developed smart technologies on a single platform.

The drill was conducted on a Two-Force construct, in which friendly forces operated within a robust Integrated Air Defence System to create a realistic battlespace.

The exercise involved close coordination of kinetic operations with cyber, space and electromagnetic spectrum capabilities to simulate modern, multi-domain warfare.

During the kinetic phase, swing-role fighter aircraft with “first-shoot, first-kill” capability were deployed. These jets were equipped with long-range beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles, extended-range stand-off air-to-ground weapons and advanced precision-strike systems.

Airborne Early Warning and Control platforms and air-to-air refuellers provided full operational support.

A major highlight of the exercise was manned-unmanned teaming, with deep-reach killer drones and loitering munitions operating in a highly contested, congested and degraded combat environment.

The operations validated the PAF’s ability to conduct fast-paced and complex missions under modern battlefield conditions.

The exercise was executed under unified command and control from the Next-Generation All-Domain Command and Control Centre at Air Headquarters in Islamabad. Officials said this enabled coordinated and competitive operations across the full spectrum of contemporary air warfare.

According to a PAF spokesperson, the successful completion of Exercise Golden Eagle reflected the air force’s continued commitment to maintaining a high state of operational readiness, promoting indigenous innovation, and effectively responding to present and future security challenges.

The exercise comes amid evolving regional security dynamics, as Pakistan continues to modernise its air combat capabilities and strengthen its preparedness for multi-domain conflict scenarios.
