The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced a series of measures aimed at ensuring the safety of female students in universities across the province, sources said on Tuesday.

The measures included the enforcement of a strict code of conduct governing interactions between male faculty members and female students.

According to an official statement, university administrations have been issued clear instructions to ensure the prompt resolution of complaints lodged by female students.

An inquiry committee has been constituted to investigate the Peshawar University harassment case, the statement said.

The government has also made it mandatory for all public-sector universities to hold awareness seminars about harassment.

In addition, universities have been directed to organise awareness workshops every three months on the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010, and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) policy on harassment.

Universities have been instructed to submit regular compliance reports to the Higher Education Commission.

The chief minister has also sought reports from all universities regarding the steps taken to prevent harassment on campuses.

The statement added that university administrations would be held accountable for any failure to implement the directives, and strict action could be taken in case of non-compliance.

The KP government said the measures reflect its commitment to creating a safe and respectful educational environment for female students across the province.
