Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said on Kashmir Day that Pakistan stands with the Kashmiri people and supports their right to self-determination and a referendum according to United Nations resolutions.

Addressing a photo exhibition at the Karachi Arts Council, the mayor said he said that the United Nations has also clearly spoken of giving the Kashmiri people the right to a plebiscite in its resolutions.

He said the late former prime minister Benazir Bhutto had also stressed defending oppressed brothers and sisters.

The mayor called for continued seminars and events to counter what he described as negative propaganda by India’s Modi government and condemned its policies toward Kashmir.
