Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the cabinet’s decision and termed the agreement between the New York mayor and the KP government a positive and forward-looking development.

According to the governor, the New York City Mayor’s Office has described the partnership as a positive example of promoting global urban cooperation and an important step towards strengthening people-to-people ties between Pakistan and the United States.

Under the proposed sister city arrangement, Peshawar and New York will cooperate in key areas including economy, education, youth skill development, scientific and technological activities, cultural exchanges, and high-level mutual visits.

Governor Kundi said the sister cities partnership would help restore Peshawar’s image as a city of flowers and peace. He added that the collaboration would open new educational, technical and employment opportunities for youth, particularly in modern industries.

“The New York Mayor’s Office has termed this initiative an important effort to strengthen grassroots-level relations between Pakistan and the United States,” the governor said.

He expressed optimism that the agreement would enhance access to advanced education, skills training and employment avenues, while also strengthening KP’s linkages with global cities and modern economic sectors.
