The Karachi police have arrested 300 individuals under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) law amid concerns over possible disturbances in the city, sources said on Monday.

According to the Home Ministry, the majority of those arrested — 51 individuals — were detained from the District East of Karachi.

All detainees have been taken into custody for 30 days, according to an official notification.

As a result, an order has been issued for the individuals to be held in detention for 30 days.

The arrested individuals will be shifted to Malir Jail for the duration of their detention, according to the notification.
