The Executive Director of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Dr Rana Imran Sikandar, has confirmed that former prime minister Imran Khan underwent a detailed eye examination and treatment at the hospital after complaining of reduced vision in his right eye.

In a statement, Dr Sikandar said the PTI founder was brought to PIMS a few days ago after reporting reduced vision in his right eye.

Prior to this, a senior doctor had conducted a comprehensive eye examination at Adiala Jail.

According to the hospital administration, all necessary tests of the right eye were carried out in detail.

Doctors diagnosed the patient with central retinal vein occlusion in the right eye. Following the diagnosis, the senior doctor recommended further treatment at the hospital.

Dr Sikandar said the PTI founder was brought to PIMS between Saturday and Sunday night for the prescribed treatment.

He was fully informed about his medical condition and the treatment procedure, and written consent was obtained prior to the intervention.

The treatment was carried out in a sterile environment inside the operation theatre under medical supervision.

During the procedure, slit-lamp examination, fundoscopy, measurement of intraocular pressure, required diagnostic tests, and retinal OCT were performed.

The treatment was completed successfully in approximately 20 minutes. Hospital officials said the patient’s vital signs remained stable throughout the procedure.

Following treatment, the PTI founder was discharged with medical instructions, follow-up advice, and relevant documentation.

Dr Rana Imran Sikandar added that a team of senior doctors examined the patient and discharged him after completion of the treatment.
