According to police officials, Mazhar Nawaz Sheikh has been appointed as the new DIG Traffic Karachi and will assume charge immediately.

A formal notification regarding the appointment has also been issued.

Sources said the decision was taken in view of worsening traffic issues, mismanagement and growing public complaints in the city.

The newly appointed DIG Traffic has been tasked with improving the traffic system and ensuring strict implementation of traffic laws.

Police officials said further steps are expected in the coming days to improve traffic flow in Karachi.
