Cold weather grips Balochistan with light rain and snowfall in Quetta

Balochistan will remain cold and partly cloudy across most districts on Friday, with light rain expected in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Chagai, Nokundi, Dalbandin, and nearby areas in the evening, and light snowfall in mountainous regions, the Meteorological Department said.

The minimum temperature in Quetta dropped to minus two degrees Celsius, while Kalat recorded minus seven, Ziarat minus eight, and Zhob zero degrees.

Other districts saw temperatures of 8°C in Sibi, 12°C in Turbat, 6°C in Nokundi, and 3°C in Chaman.

Coastal areas also experienced cold weather, with Gwadar at 10°C and Jiwani at 12°C.

Despite the severe cold, residents of Quetta are struggling with unannounced electricity load shedding and reduced gas pressure.

High prices for wood, coal, and LPG have added to the public’s difficulties, increasing mental stress during the harsh winter conditions.
