Pakistan will not become part of the Abraham Accord following its decision to join the Board of Peace, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.

During a weekly news briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi also emphasised Pakistan’s opposition to foreign interference in Iran’s internal affairs or the imposition of sanctions.

Islamabad believed that peace and stability in the region can only be achieved through diplomacy and dialogue, the spokesperson added.

The spokesperson said that he is not aware of any fresh request from India regarding access to the convicted spy Kulbhushan Jadhav.

Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan joined the Gaza Board of Peace in good faith, but the country’s stance on Palestine remains unchanged.

“Pakistan has not been asked to sign the Abraham Accord, nor is it a party to it. The Gaza Board of Peace is a separate initiative, offering a ray of hope, and Pakistan joined it along with eight other Muslim countries,” he added.

Andrabi also noted that the Board currently has no membership fee and will be reviewed after three years.

The official stated that Pakistan has made no decision to join the International Stabilisation Force for Gaza, adding that the Board of Peace is not a substitute for the United Nations.

The spokesperson claimed that the United States has upgraded its travel advisory for Pakistan, making it easier for more people to visit the country.

According to the official, the advisory reflects Pakistan as a safe country, marking positive international recognition.

Answering a question on remarks by a judge in the Iman Mazari case relating to Iran, the spokesperson clarified that the remarks represent the judge’s personal opinions. “Pakistan does not hold such a position on Iran,” he said.

The spokesperson announced that the President of Kazakhstan will soon visit Pakistan, with dates to be announced soon.

He described the upcoming visit as significant for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

Addressing regional tensions, the spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan has always supported the resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.

He stressed that Pakistan opposes the use of force and has consistently rejected sanctions against Iran.

The official noted that both the prime minister and foreign minister have held two rounds of direct contact with their Iranian counterparts.

Additionally, meetings were also held with US officials in Davos to discuss the overall regional situation.

The spokesperson stated that the region cannot bear war and unrest, as such conditions fundamentally hinder economic development, peace, and prosperity.

Pakistan’s priority, he said, is to ensure that dialogue and diplomacy prevail in the region.
