Intermittent snowfall across several parts of the country has thrownlife out of gear, with road links cut off and movement restricted in multiple regions.

Road links in many areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir have been cut off due to heavy snowfall.

Authorities have also limited tourist access to Murree and the Galiyat amid worsening weather conditions, saying precautionary measures have become unavoidable.

In Azad Kashmir, four people who had gone missing after being trapped in snow on the Reshian-Leepa-Moji road were safely rescued near Sher Gali.

According to sources, local residents carried out a timely rescue operation and shifted the trapped people to a safe location.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, rain and snowfall have cut off road links to all four tehsils of Ghizer district.

More than one foot of snow has been recorded in Yasin and Phandar valleys, while Skardu and the surrounding areas received around five inches of snowfall.

Roads in Kharmang, Shigar and Ghanche districts have also been closed.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy snowfall has affected road access in South Waziristan, Orakzai, Lower Dir and Upper Dir districts.

Authorities reported 37 inches of snowfall in Malam Jabba, seven inches in Kalam and five inches in Parachinar.

Traffic on the Kaghan Highway and in the Paras area has been suspended due to landslides.

In the Galiyat region, snowfall of up to one foot has confined residents to their homes. Authorities have advised tourists to avoid unnecessary travel.

Murree continued to receive snowfall, where the Meteorological Department said up to nine inches of snow had been recorded.

In Balochistan, five inches of snow was recorded in Quetta and an additional two inches in Kalat.

Heavy snowfall has disrupted normal life in several districts, including Ziarat, Mastung, Kan Mehtarzai and Muslim Bagh.

Meanwhile, at Sindh’s tourist destination of Gorakh Hill, temperatures dropped below freezing following the season’s first snowfall.

In rural areas of Azad Kashmir, road closures have caused severe difficulties for travellers.

In the Bheddi area, a patient had to be transported on a stretcher to a hospital in the Bagh area due to blocked roads.

Local residents have demanded the immediate restoration of roads, ambulance services and the deployment of medical staff.
