Under the scheme, each eligible family will receive Rs10,000 in cash ahead of Ramadan to meet their basic needs.

The announcement came during a high-level meeting chaired by the CM to review preparations for Ramadan and public welfare measures.

CM Maryam instructed authorities to ensure transparent and timely disbursement, emphasising that no needy family should feel neglected during the holy month.

Separately, the chief minister took strict notice of a tiger attack on a child in Punjab, ordering the child to be shifted to Ganga Ram Hospital for a bionic arm transplant.

Following the incident, the government has banned the legal possession of pet and wild cats across Punjab, and the suspects who attempted to hide the incident have been arrested.

In another development, the CM congratulated the newly elected officials of the Lahore Press Club and assured full government support for journalists.

Officials said the Ramadan Guardian package is being hailed as a major social protection initiative aimed at easing the impact of rising inflation and providing direct relief to the most vulnerable citizens of Punjab during Ramadan 2026.
