Pakistan Navy ships Tabuk and Moawin carried out a successful medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) of a Sri Lankan national requiring urgent care from the Indonesian-flagged vessel MV Grey Palm, approximately 800 nautical miles (1,500 km) off Pakistan’s coast, officials said on Saturday.

The operation was launched following a formal request from the Sri Lankan Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC).

Pakistan Navy immediately dispatched its ships to the high seas as first responders, safely evacuating the critically ill crew member along with an attendant.

The patient received immediate medical treatment onboard the PN Ship, and both Sri Lankan authorities and the crew member’s family expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s swift assistance.

“This successful medical evacuation demonstrates Pakistan Navy’s operational readiness and its long-standing commitment to the safety of life at sea, irrespective of nationality,” a Pakistan Navy spokesperson said.
