PDMA warns of heavy rain and snowfall in Murree and Galiyat

Punjab’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority has forecast heavy rain and snowfall in Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas over the next 48 hours, warning that wet conditions may persist until January 23.

According to the PDMA, snowfall is likely in Murree and nearby areas over the coming days.

The authority said facilitation centres have been set up to assist tourists during the expected spell of severe weather.

The PDMA director general said that 13 facilitation centres have been established in Murree to support visitors.

Tourists have been urged to check weather conditions before travelling to avoid any emergency.

Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed directed all relevant departments to remain on high alert, saying the administration would stay alert round the clock.

He said district administrations would remain present to guide and protect tourists.

He warned that rainfall and snowfall could disrupt traffic flow on roads and instructed authorities to complete advance arrangements to keep traffic moving.

Citizens were advised to contact the PDMA helpline at 1129 in case of any emergency.
