The sources said that internal differences within the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have prevented consensus on the induction of new members.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had finalised some names for inclusion in the cabinet in the second phase of the cabinet expansion, which is expected to bring five to six more members on board.

However, the process was halted after concerns emerged from various factions within the party.

According to party insiders, several lawmakers had expressed a desire to be included in the cabinet, which intensified internal disagreements.

There were concerns that any move to expand the cabinet at this stage could exacerbate divisions within the party and potentially affect party discipline.

Given the prevailing situation, the sources confirmed that the decision to expand the cabinet has been temporarily suspended.

The matter will be revisited after further consultations, the sources added.
