Trump says Iran has reached out for nuclear talks

US President Donald Trump claimed on Sunday that Iran has contacted the United States to discuss a potential nuclear deal, and Washington may consider a meeting in this regard.

However, Trump also said that all options, including military action, remain under review regarding Iran.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said, “Iranian leaders called yesterday. A meeting is being scheduled. They want to negotiate.”

At the same time, he emphasised that the United States could take military action against Iran before any such meeting takes place.

“The situation in Iran is deteriorating. There are reports of people being killed,” he said.

Trump criticised Iran’s leadership, stating that the country is being governed through “power and violence.”

He added that the US military is closely monitoring the situation and that various “tough options” are being considered, with a final decision expected soon.

When asked if Iran had crossed any “red lines,” Trump declined to provide details about specific military plans.

The president said he receives updates on Iran’s situation every hour.

Regarding casualties during ongoing protests in Iran, Trump noted that some deaths occurred in stampedes, while others were caused by gunfire.

Addressing the possibility of a retaliatory response from Iran or its allies, Trump warned that any attack would be met with unprecedented action.

“Iran should already understand America’s resolve,” he said, referencing past US operations against Qassem Soleimani and Daesh leader Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi.

Trump did not specify whether the United States had consulted with allies on the matter or whether a timeline for a decision had been set.
