Strict security plan rolled out across twin cities for New Year celebrations

The Punjab Police have rolled out comprehensive security arrangements for New Year’s Eve, deploying over 25,000 officers across the twin cities to ensure public safety.

The police have explicitly banned stunts such as one-wheeling, reckless driving, and celebratory gunfire during the celebrations.

Inspector General Usman Anwar warned that any miscreants harassing women or disturbing the public order will face immediate arrest.

In Islamabad, eight special squads have been formed to prevent reckless driving, one-wheeling, and other disruptive activities.

Dedicated traffic units will also be stationed at popular recreational spots. Heavy traffic will be restricted from entering the city between 7pm and 3am.

Authorities have urged parents to discourage children from underage or stunt driving.

Similarly, in Murree, Section 144 has been imposed to maintain peace and provide a safe environment for visiting families.

For the next two days, only families will be allowed entry onto Mall Road.

In Rawalpindi, more than 5,000 police personnel, including 850 traffic officers, will be on duty.

Authorities have prohibited aerial firing, fireworks, and other dangerous activities throughout the city, with strict monitoring in place.

The SSP Operations Islamabad emphasised that law enforcement agencies will take strict action against any illegal or disruptive activity during the New Year celebrations.

The move is part of a broader effort by police in the twin cities to maintain law and order and ensure a safe and peaceful environment for citizens and visitors during the festive period.
