Pakistan summons Afghan deputy envoy over North Waziristan terror attack

Pakistan on Friday summoned the Afghan deputy ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and lodged a strong protest over the use of Afghan territory in a deadly terrorist attack in North Waziristan that left four Pakistani soldiers martyred.

In a statement, the Foreign Office ((FO) Spokesperson said the Afghan envoy was formally informed of Pakistan’s serious concerns after terrorists belonging to Fitna al Khwarij attacked a security forces camp in the Boya area of North Waziristan.

The spokesperson said the attack resulted in the martyrdom of four soldiers and underscored that Afghan soil was once again used to plan and execute terrorist activities inside Pakistan.

The spokesperson said that Pakistan has demanded a full investigation and decisive action against the perpetrators and facilitators of the terrorist attacks launched against Pakistan from Afghan soil.

Pakistan conveyed a clear message to the Afghan Taliban interim government, calling on it to fulfil its responsibilities and prevent militant groups from using its territory against Pakistan.

Khawarij terrorists attempted to breach the camp’s perimeter before ramming an explosives-laden vehicle into the outer wall, damaging nearby civilian infrastructure, including a mosque and houses. The blast injured 15 civilians, including women and children.

Security forces responded swiftly and effectively, killing all four attackers in a counter-operation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations.

The Foreign Office said Pakistan reserves the right to take all necessary measures in defence of its sovereignty and to ensure the protection of its citizens.
