The Provincial Disaster Management Authority on Thursday forecast rain in most districts of Punjab, with hilly areas expected to experience thunderstorms and snow on December 20 and 21.

According to a spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) of Punjab, rain and snowfall are likely to lash Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, and the Potohar region.

Light rain is also expected in cities, including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh.

PDMA Director-General Irfan Ali Kathia said the rainfall is expected to significantly reduce smog and fog in the region.

He advised citizens to use masks to protect themselves from smog and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.

The PDMA has set up a control room to monitor the situation round the clock. It urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather, drive cautiously, avoid sudden braking, and use fog lights while on the road.

Tourists visiting Murree have been advised to follow precautionary measures and adhere to official instructions.

Facilitation centres have been set up at various locations in Murree to assist visitors.
