The Punjab cabinet on Monday approved several summaries, including amendments to the High Security Zones Act and property-related laws, at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Presiding over the 31st cabinet meeting, the chief minister announced a tightened crackdown on corruption across provincial departments. She said inquiries in all departments would be completed within three months to ensure accountability and eliminate corrupt practices.

“A single penny of corruption will not be tolerated. Public funds are a trust,” Maryam Nawaz said, adding that misuse of state resources was unacceptable and those responsible would be held accountable.

The cabinet approved a range of initiatives covering education, technology, health, infrastructure, youth development, employment and public welfare.

The chief minister also announced the establishment of Punjab’s second IT city in Rawalpindi, calling it a new chapter in the province’s digital transformation.

Separately, Maryam Nawaz praised the Pakistan Navy for demonstrating “impressive firepower” in the northern Arabian Sea, saying it reflected the force’s operational strength.

She further said that modern, technology-based shrimp farming, aquaculture and a value chain had been formally launched in Punjab, describing it as the foundation of a new phase for the province’s blue economy.
