Transporters on Friday called off their strike after successful negotiations with the Punjab government, ending a standoff that had disrupted goods movement across the province.

Senior Provincial Minister Mariam Aurangzeb led the talks with representatives of transport associations.

Both sides agreed to end the strike after the government assured transporters that their demands would be reviewed through a formal mechanism.

Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has formed a committee to address the transporters’ concerns.

The committee, headed by Aurangzeb, includes representatives of the transport sector. Its first meeting will be held on Saturday.

Haji Sher Ali, central president of the Goods Transport Alliance, signed the reconciliation agreement on behalf of transporters.

Aurangzeb welcomed the decision to end the strike, saying the government would resolve all issues through dialogue and mutual understanding.
