      <title>Former ISI chief Faiz Hameed sentenced to 14 years rigorous imprisonment</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Former director-general of Inter-Services Intelligence and retired Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed has been sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment following a Field General Court Martial, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Thursday.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;According to the ISPR, Hameed was found guilty on four charges: involvement in political activities, violation of the Official Secrets Act in a manner detrimental to the security and interests of the state, misuse of authority and government resources, and causing unlawful harm to individuals.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The court-martial proceedings were conducted under the Pakistan Army Act and spanned 15 months.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The ISPR described the trial as lengthy, noting that all charges were substantiated before the verdict was handed down.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The sentence was formally enforced on December 11, 2025.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The ISPR emphasised that the proceedings were carried out in accordance with strict military laws to protect the security of senior officers and the integrity of official matters.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The ISPR confirmed that the court conducted all proceedings in accordance with legal requirements, and Hameed was allowed full rights to select his defence team.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He also retains the right to appeal the verdict at the relevant forum.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The ISPR noted that matters related to political instability and other aspects were examined separately.&lt;/p&gt;
