In a formal ceremony, contingents of all three armed services — the Army, Navy and Air Force — presented the guard of honour to the Field Marshal.

Senior officers from the three services attended the event.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu were present on the occasion.

The tri-services contingent also offered salutes to the naval and air chiefs before the formal salute was presented to the guest of honour.

The ceremony marked the first official guard of honour for Field Marshal Asim Munir following his elevation as the country’s inaugural Chief of Defence Forces.
