LHC to hear appeals of Ijaz Chaudhry, Mehmoodur Rasheed against May 9 convictions

The Lahore High Court has fixed for hearing the appeals filed by PTI leaders Ijaz Chaudhry and Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed against their 10-year prison sentences awarded in the May 9 cases.

According to the LHC registrar’s office, the appeals have been listed for December 4, when a two-member bench headed by Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi will take them up.

The court has summoned the prosecution along with the complete case record, while the lawyers for the appellants have also been asked to present their arguments.

In their appeals, the petitioners contend that the trial court failed to properly evaluate the facts of the case.

They have requested the high court to set aside the trial court’s verdict and acquit them of all charges.
