As winter sets in, the Sindh Directorate of Private Institutions has directed all private schools not to force students to wear jackets of any specific colour or design.

A notification issued on the instructions of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah states that children may wear any warm clothing of their choice during the cold season.

Schools have been warned against compelling students to purchase or wear designated winter uniforms.

Rafia Javed, Director of Private Institutions, said student health and comfort are the top priorities in winter.

The directives stressed that no school is permitted to impose restrictions on jacket colour or design, adding that action will be taken against institutions violating the directive.

It said that children may wear any warm jacket, in any colour or design. Their wellbeing comes first.

The provincial education minister also reiterated that the purpose of the directive is to ease the burden on families and ensure students stay protected during harsh weather.
