Speaking to reporters at Gorakhpur checkpoint outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Thursday, Afridi said he had come to meet the PTI founder to gain firsthand information and share it with the nation.

“We came to request a meeting with the party’s founder, but if it is not allowed, we will announce the next course of action,” he said.

Afridi said he represents 4.5 crore people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that today’s marked his eighth attempt to meet Imran Khan.

He emphasised that all legal and democratic avenues had been pursued, and the party was also considering its final option.

“I wanted to join a sit-in, but the founder’s sisters advised against it,” he added.

Reflecting on recent political developments, the chief minister claimed that in the recent by-elections, 95 per cent of voters did not turn out, and the people of Punjab expressed solidarity with PTI by abstaining from voting.

He vowed to continue advocating for his province in the National Finance Commission (NFC) award, noting that the federal government had postponed four NFC meetings.
