Three policemen were martyred on Wednesday when terrorists attacked the Qazi Talab police check post in Hangu’s City Police Station jurisdiction, officials said.

District Police Officer Khan Zaib Khan said the attackers opened fire on the post, prompting a strong retaliation from the police.

A heavy exchange of fire continued for some time, during which two more policemen were reported injured.

The DPO said the bodies of the martyred officers had been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a police checkpoint in Hangu, expressing deep sorrow over the martyrdom of three police personnel during an exchange of fire.

He said the KP police are bravely fighting terrorists and that the sacrifices of the martyrs will never go in vain.

KP Adviser for Information, Shafi Jan, also condemned the attack, saying terrorists cannot weaken the nation’s resolve through cowardly actions.

He stated that the provincial government is committed to eliminating terrorism and stands firmly with the families of the martyrs during this difficult time.
