Pre-arrest bail of PTI founder, Bushra Bibi extended till December 23

A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Monday extended its order preventing the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in the May 9 and five other cases until December 23.

The court also extended the pre-arrest bail of Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, and directed that the former prime minister be produced via video link at the next hearing.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka heard the cases related to the May 9 incidents and several other charges registered against the PTI founder.

Due to Imran Khan’s absence, the court could not hear arguments on the bail petitions and adjourned further proceedings until December 23.

Under the court’s latest order, the pre-arrest bail of both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi will remain in effect, and Khan has been instructed to appear through video link at the upcoming hearing.

Imran Khan faces multiple cases, including those stemming from the May 9 violence, an attempted murder charge, and allegations involving forged receipts.

Bushra Bibi is also implicated in a case related to allegedly submitting fake receipts.

Following the court’s decision, no arrest of the PTI founder or his spouse can take place until December 23.
