Police launched strict screening at all entry points into Islamabad, while security around key government buildings and the Red Zone was further reinforced.

Officials said the measures were taken as precautionary steps to prevent any potential follow-up attacks.

Special teams have been deployed to inspect passengers travelling on public transport. At Faizabad bus terminal, authorities began recording the identity card details of travellers. Transport operators have been instructed to provide complete passenger data to law enforcement agencies.

Security officials said the alert was raised to minimise risks in the wake of the Peshawar incident, where FC personnel foiled an attack on their headquarters earlier on Monday.

A suicide bomber targeted the main gate, but FC forces killed two militants in a swift response.

Three FC personnel were martyred, and eight people, including four officials, were injured.

Authorities said the slain attackers were Afghan nationals and had planned to strike a parade underway inside the compound.

Islamabad police said the heightened security will continue until the threat level subsides.
