According to the military’s media wing, the operation was launched on actionable intelligence, after which the suspected hideout of the militants was cordoned off.

A heavy exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the killing of eight militants.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were involved in various terrorist activities in the region, the ISPR added.

The ISPR said the operation reflected excellent coordination among the participating forces.

It added that the network and movement of the militants were being strictly restricted, while intelligence-based operations in the region had been intensified.

A clearance and sanitisation operation is currently underway in the area to eliminate any remaining threat.

The military reaffirmed its resolve to root out terrorism as part of its “Azm-e-Istihkam” initiative, stating that action against foreign-sponsored terrorist networks would continue with full force.
