Liaquat Mehsud and his guard appeared in the local court, which heard the case of a young man killed after being hit by a dumper truck in the Garden area of Karachi on November 3.

Protests erupted after the incident, and angry residents of the area later set the truck on fire.

During the chaos, Liaquat Mehsud arrived at the scene with an armed guard, further angering the crowd and triggering a stronger protest.

As tensions escalated, the guard riding in Mehsud’s double-cabin vehicle allegedly opened fire on the protesters, causing panic among the residents.

Police had registered a case at the Garden Police Station over the killing and the firing incident.

However, both Liaquat Mehsud and his guard were granted bail earlier by the court.

When they appeared before the court on Saturday, the judge cancelled Liaquat Mehsud’s bail.

Following the decision, Mehsud immediately fled the courtroom, while police were ordered to arrest his guard.

Announcing its decision on the bail plea, the court observed that evidence existed showing the accused was involved in firing and creating fear among the public.

The judge noted that sections related to terrorism were applicable in the case.

According to the investigating officer, video evidence indicated that Mehsud’s accompanying co-accused was carrying a weapon at the scene.

Mehsud claimed that the weapon permit had been issued by the Home Department, but court records showed the permit was valid for one year and had expired in October — before the day of the incident.

The complainant’s counsel argued that the guards fired indiscriminately at the public during the chaos, spreading fear and insecurity.

Video evidence submitted during the inquiry also showed Mehsud’s guard firing at the crowd.

The court rejected Liaquat Mehsud’s interim bail and withdrew the earlier order that had granted him relief.
