According to officials, the assault on the college in North Waziristan was planned by a Khawarij militant, Zahid, while the attackers executed the plan following instructions received from Afghanistan.

The sources added that Khawarij militant commander Noorwali Mehsud ordered the attackers to carry out the operation, and, also on his instructions, the responsibility for the attack was claimed by Jaish Al Hind.

Security officials also revealed that all weapons required for the attack, including US-made firearms, were supplied by militants from Afghanistan.

During the successful counter-operation, all attackers involved in the Wana Cadet College attack were neutralised by security forces.

At the time of the attack, approximately 650 people were present on campus, including 525 cadets.

The operation was carried out without harm to any students or staff. Security forces safely rescued all personnel inside the college.

The attack, which took place on November 10, involved a vehicle packed with explosives being rammed into the main gate of the college, destroying it completely and damaging nearby buildings.

Pakistani Army troops responded immediately, killing two attackers on the spot.
