Authorities have intensified checks on vehicles, including rickshaws and buses, while passengers’ identification cards are being verified at multiple checkpoints, sources said on Wednesday.

Officials said the enhanced security measures aim to prevent the entry of suspicious individuals and materials into the city.

Citizens have welcomed the steps, expressing confidence that these actions will improve overall law and order.

Public representatives have suggested that installing scanners to detect weapons and explosives at all entry and exit points could significantly reduce terrorism nationwide.

Security measures deployed at courts

Under orders from Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, security arrangements have been strengthened in all courts across the province.

The Chief Justice expressed deep grief over the Islamabad courthouse attack, emphasising that the protection of judges, court staff, lawyers, and litigants is the judiciary’s top priority.

She directed that foolproof security measures be ensured in all judicial complexes in Lahore and across Punjab.

Walk-through gates, metal detectors, and thorough frisking procedures have been implemented at all entrances and exits.

Justice Neelum instructed authorities to identify security gaps and take immediate corrective measures.

Enhanced surveillance and stricter protocols have also been implemented in parking areas to ensure the safety and convenience of visitors and legal professionals.
