Tarar slams opposition’s ‘hollow resistance’ to 27th Amendment

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Wednesday criticised what he termed the opposition’s “hollow” resistance to the 27th Constitutional Amendment, saying they had not even read the bill.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament House, Tarar said that making noise and shaping political narratives without understanding the legislation served no purpose.

He added that instead of rejecting a comprehensive, clause-by-clause discussion, the opposition should have engaged in constructive debate.

Tarar expressed confidence that the 27th Constitutional Amendment, once presented today, would be approved without any difficulty.

The minister hailed the Pakistan Army’s operation in Wana as a historic achievement worthy of great appreciation.

He said the army had successfully rescued over 500 students, describing the mission as one that would be remembered globally and studied in military academies around the world.

Tarar said the operation had sent a clear message to the enemy, noting that Pakistan had triumphed against an adversary four times its size.

He added that the enemy was forced to abandon its positions and flee, asserting that this proxy war posed no real challenge for Pakistan.

When asked if former prime minister Nawaz Sharif would visit Parliament House today, Tarar replied, “We’ll arrange your meeting with him as well.”
