Pakistan cannot compromise on national security: Foreign Office

Pakistan will not make any compromise on its national security, the Foreign Office said on Saturday, following talks between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban.

In a strongly worded statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that no negotiations would be held with the Fitna Al Hind or Fitna Al Khawarij terrorist groups.

He said Pakistan’s only demand from the Afghan interim government is that its soil must not be used for activities against Pakistan.

The spokesperson said Pakistan had been in contact with the Afghan Taliban regime for the past four years and had shown seriousness in the negotiation process, but regretted that the Afghan side raised secondary issues instead of addressing the core concern.

He added that the Afghan Taliban were portraying the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) issue as a matter of refugees, which was incorrect.

“If they are indeed refugees, they should be sent back through Chaman or Torkham border crossings,” the spokesperson said.

He expressed gratitude to Qatar and Türkiye for their mediation efforts in facilitating dialogue between the two sides.

The Foreign Office reiterated that Pakistan’s stance is clear and firm — it will not negotiate at the cost of its security or national interests.
