According to sources, the prime minister has cancelled all foreign visits of cabinet members and lawmakers to ensure their availability for parliamentary consultations on the proposed amendment.

The directive emphasises the full participation of government members in the upcoming legislative process.

Officials said the restriction will remain in effect until the amendment is approved, though any unavoidable travel in the national interest may be allowed with the prime minister’s written permission.

A dinner is scheduled at the Prime Minister’s House on November 8, where the Awami National Party (ANP) is also expected to attend.

Sources added that a committee comprising representatives of allied parties may be formed to finalise the draft of the amendment.

The proposed amendment is likely to be introduced in the Senate later this week, followed by discussions in both houses of parliament and their standing committees.
