Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated that the government was firmly committed to protecting the rights of all religious minorities.

In line with this commitment, he stated that the government had ensured the protection of their sacred sites and provided every possible facility to the visiting pilgrims to pay their respects.

In a message on the 556th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev, the prime minister extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Sikh community living in Pakistan and around the world.

“Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji is not only one of the prominent figures in Sikhism, but also a visionary who taught the entire humanity the values of peace, equality, tolerance, and understanding,” PM Office Media Wing, in a press release, quoted the prime minister as saying.

He observed that Baba Guru Nanak’s eternal teachings, including love for humanity, selfless service and interfaith harmony, continued to guide generations.

His message of unity, solidarity, and tolerance served as a beacon for establishing a peaceful and justice-based world, the prime minister added.

“The prime minister further emphasised that it was a matter of pride for Pakistan to have safeguarded numerous Gurdwaras linked to the life and teachings of Baba Guru Nanak, particularly the Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib.”

“Every year, he said, Pakistan warmly welcomes Sikh pilgrims from around the world to these holy sites and provides all necessary facilities.”

On this joyous occasion, he urged them to “learn from the messages of peace, tolerance, and mutual harmony taught by Baba Guru Nanak, and to work towards making the world a sanctuary of unity, mutual respect, and peace.”
