According to government sources, the prime minister has directed his team to take all allied parties into confidence on the proposed amendment.

Following initial discussions with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the government will now formally engage the MQM-Pakistan, Pakistan Muslim League (Q), Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F).

Sources said the preliminary framework of the proposed amendment has been drafted, focusing on key changes, including an amendment to Article 243 and a proposal to bring certain educational matters back under federal jurisdiction.

The amendment package also includes possible revisions related to the establishment of a constitutional court, the NFC Award, and clauses concerning the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Government insiders said the constitutional reform package will be finalised in consultation with all stakeholders. Political observers expect intensified consultations and statements from coalition partners in the coming days.
